I just purchased Photo Story Deluxe 2021. Still trying to familiarize myslef with it.
Main reason is to create slideshows for all the travels we did. And there is a lot. Travel Maps is a key element of it, but it seems the plane avatar is not part of the base package. I don't want to put a scooter to show we went from Canada to China.
Do I need to buy the complete Ultimate Traveler packager to get just an plane avatar ?

did you scroll to the right using the scroll bar directly underneath the avatar images?

Unfortunately that is so, the free version has a limited number of Avatars, and third party animated GIFs do not work.
Travels Maps does have the option of using an image as the avatar, see dialog image below (red arrow), however this will not be animated, eg an animated GIF walking avatar loses it animation and appears as a static image which will be rotated in the direction of travel if set - this can lead to the avatar being at any angle depending on the direction of travel.
The avatar image can also be changed at any location (yellow arrow) and selecting a different avatar or image (red arrow)
A PNG image with transparent background is the most suitable format.
