How to access NewBlue FX in MS suite?

Hi guys. I just want tp put my punkt for my part in the topic.

After maybe 5 emails, I have been told that I will get a refund of my upgrade to the Suite, as I tried again and still found I could not get it to work. I want to work on videos, not fight this.

I will say that I paid for and downloaded Corel's Video Studio Ultimate and a version of the Newblue stuff came as part of the offer. The method there was to send me a 2.8GB file, in which the NB stuff was included. It all went so smoothly that I did not realise I was installing the NB stuff until (IIRC) the installer said that it was doing this. HAS to be better then the crazy complex way Magix does it. It also eliminates my system as being involved AFAICS

Again, thanks for all the input.

Hi

I have not used that video editor for a long while, however there is one effect in there that would be very good for MMS/VPX and that is the non linear keyframing.

I find it funny that they have just added the Speech to text converter, this is old technology which has been built into Windows for a long while.

It was one of the video editors, in its original form ULead VideoStudio, I used to use before I moved over to Movie Edit Pro 11.

I am aware of non-linear, but I need to investigate NL Keyframing more in Video Studio.I can chop and change and cherry-pick because over the years I have acquired various bits of software and some good upgrade paths/prices are open to me.

Hah! Maybe speech to text was one of those future offerings that they can provide in the "Upgrade" :)

I remember Ulead stuff. Not sure how much I used them. IIRC it was not video but 3d stuff?

Hi,

I wasn't aware until recently about Speech to Text being prevalent. Other than recording and having that converted, I thought that it had to be done using Dragon Naturally Speaking. Even then, it had to be trained and was difficult. Recently, I found out that I have the feature with MicroSoft 365 and loaded up 20 minutes of an interview - me interviewing my mother, and it gave me both speakers. Amazing!

Ulead, now where did I see that recently...oh yeah. Here it is:

I also have Corel VS2021. Opened it once.

Nick, you didn't happen to get NB Total FX at some point did you? Strange problem that many users seem to be having.

Hello John.

Corel's offering feels different from Magix's for sure. But once I stuck with it, it's not painful, and so far in many cases much simpler than Magix. As with all these programmes, you end up against some silly brick wall now and then.

It would appear I have had NB Total FX, as it is shown as registered against my account. I may look into seeing if I can somehow expunge it, as I obviously have not allowed my life to revolve around it :D, and see what happens. I am not in a rush, as at the moment I have a working version to run with.

Hi Nick,

I recall from the Vegas forum that there were conflicts between a full package and parts. I'm not sure if that was for Boris or NB.

In any event, if you have NB Total FX, then you would already have the NB effects that came with Movie Studio. I suggest that you try to get the Total package working.

OK. On further use, it seems to me that Corel's offering has far less control than Movie Studio. Very few FX seem to have any keyframe control. This of course makes Magix MS more complex, but more versatile and "Creative" (pun from back in the day).

Ok I will post this here, as it's pretty much on topic and I am in the company of people who know about this stuff.

In all this confusion about FX, I give up on Newblue, but MS itself offered a lot of extras for download. Unfortunately, once it thinks I have downloaded stuff, it won't let me try again.

So what I am after is: how many FX are available to me as standard with MS and than with all the offered extras? I do not want a list, but just a count. I am not sure if I _actually_ have the added offerings.

Thanks for any help

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

Thanks for the rapid reply. Well maybe they are, because I cannot tick any of them. But am I seeing the resulting FX in the programme? Hence my need to have a count.

My story is this. After my experience with NBFX I am distrustful of the install of extras into MMS. For instance, I started to download Soundforge as offered, and then cancelled after a few seconds, deciding to download in off peak times. After that SF was dead to me and I could not tick it. Not good for trust.

Yes, they are the program install files.

Given you said there are no extra content offerings (which sort of indicates the extras have already been installed), I'm trying to establish if you've got them or not. Check your titles to see if you've got the titles I have.

If you haven't, there must be a corrupted something in your Magix installation that's not showing the available content.

Hi

To round off the Extra Content query - the download manager should look as shown in the image below when all the extras are installed.

If you upgraded from a previous version such as MMS 2022, only content which needs upgrading will be available for selection.

In the image below I upgraded to MMS 2023 from 2022 , however the 2023 content is still the same as 2022 so nothing was upgraded.
