How do you edit MIDI-files seperately with Revolta 2 in MMM 16?

Matisha wrote on 9/14/2010, 9:27 PM

This probably is a stupid question since I'm new at this, but I can't find any tutorials on this.

When you've got a row of identical MIDI-files in MMM16, how can you choose just one (or a selection) of them to edit with Revolta2? Every time I try to edit just one block (object), it edits the whole row automatically. I've tried breaking them up, giving the blocks different names, etc, but I'm totally stuck. Help?!

(I hope someone understands my question, my English isn't all that, and I'm a beginner..)

You've practically answered your own question.  BTW...a "row" is actually called a "track".  There are 64 tracks available in MM-16 Basic (96 tracks in the Premium version).

Every MIDI object you want to edit separately needs to be in it's own track.

If there is space, you can probably have other audio objects in that track but no other MIDI objects.

Hi,

With MMM 15 no problem to edit one MIDI duplicate on the same track without any modification of the other duplicates or source. Is it a new functionnality in MMM 16?

It may depend on what you mean by "edit".

Perhaps if you're just changing notes, velocity, etc., it doesn't make any difference.

However, in MM-15, when I've tried to tranpose one MIDI object, every MIDI object in that track was also transposed.  And, perhaps, if every MIDI object in the same track was created with Revolta 2 every MIDI object in that track is also affected.  Just a guess.

Hi,

OK, I agree. You can edit notes without any interaction, but one track is assigned to one and only one Revolta instrument. It sounds logical in term of mixing, but it is not the case with Wav or ogg files where instrument is indertemined.

Yes, her question was specifically about MIDI objects and Revolta 2.  Audio objects in the same track (if any) would not be affected.

I should have been more specific in my answer.  I was referring to multiple MIDI objects in the same track.  I did not mean to imply it also affected audio objects.  I have edited my answer to clear up the confusion.

Thanks

According to the MM-15 manual,...

"In addition, any number of synth objects from the same software synthesizer (can) be dragged onto the track and programmed separately."

But, as I noted, this has not been my experience.
