Hi,

The items you're referring to are really just effects. They only make sense applied to an existing audio object/file, e.g. some instrumental loop or a vocal recording. What you hear when you pre-listen the effects in the mediapool is basically just that effect being applied to a specific sample clip. It's only an example of what the effect (e.g. a distortion or a compression) is supposed to sound like. You cannot bring in that example clip. You have to apply the effect to something. So, just pull in one of the loops from the soundpools and then switch over to the audio FX again and drag & drop the desired effect on top of that loop. Now listen to it again.

Note: This will only work for audio objects - not MIDI objects. So, if you're going to use a loop from the soundpool section, make sure it's one of the audio loops (with the small speaker icon next to it) - not one of the MIDI phrases (with the small eighth note next to it).

I hope I could shed some light on this for you.
