how do i simply plug in my bass and record??

i switch the track to midi, then i plug in, and no sound. it says No VSTi. NOt sure what to do?? do i need more software?

Huh? When you say "bass", do you mean a bass guitar? If so, it has absolutely nothing to do with MIDI. Please clarify.

What instuments are you using (or want to use)? What kind of interface are you using, if any?
