Have you looked for 'backup' in the Help file? Sorry I don't have PhotoStory, but on Magix Movie Edit Pro there is an entry under the 'File' menu for saving and loading backups of projects.

In MEP the backups get a special name ending in like _BAK0.MV_, perhaps PhotoStory uses a similar system?

Hope this might help until a PhotoStory user can offer more specific help.
