I can't find an option that lets me record sounds directly from my computer - for example, if I'm playing a disc and want to record from that, or if I want to record sound from the internet, etc. Thanks
Do you really mean "record", or do you actually mean "import"?
You can import any supported file type from your computer's hard drive or a CD using the File Manger (tab) in MMM. You simply find the file on your computer (just like Window Explorer) and drag it into the arranger. You cannot be in Easy Mode to use this feature.
I assume if you use a file from a CD, that CD must be in the DVD/CD drive to be able to use the sample, unless you rip the track from the CD to your hard drive first and import that file.
As far as extracting files from the internet, that's sometimes a tricky subject. If the file plays on your media player, you can probably save the file to your hard drive and import it into MMM from there. There are also lots of free wav files available on the internet.
Other than that, some sound files are restricted from being downloaded by the website. Sometimes there are ways around that, but it would be inappropriate to encourage that behavior here.
You need a soundcard that can support that type of recording.
Sound soundcards have a function that is called "Stereo Mix", while the Creative Labs Company calls this the "What You Hear" function. You would need to access your soundcard to alter its default recording device... this is achieved differently depending on what Windows operating system you are running.
there is a programm called "phonostar player" (free programm... find it in the internet) which has a record function.
It's basically a programm to listen to internet-radio... but once you klick on the record button it records every sound that's playing on your computer... puts it in an extra folder. You can even chose different quality (wav.. mp3)
