Hi

Select Program settings from the File menu (or press the Y key) on the Playback tab check the box 'Space Bar stops at current playback position'

I've done that already. Nothing seems to work. The line just moves straight to the front and the actual marker with the *triangle* and line stays where i place it, but the video still starts over. I reset to default settings tooand it still doesn't work.

Have you tried the Up/down arrows, or the letters J-K-L ?

terrypin wrote on 1/9/2012, 10:23 AM

You say "...now everytime I click it just starts from the beginning all over again."

What are you clicking to start playback? The main black triangular playback button? Or are you pressing the Space key? Or the L key?

Do you perhaps have an Input/Output range set, with its start at the beginning of the timeline, and are somehow using the Range playback button, or its shortcut / ?

I click the triangle and hit the spacebar to start playback and it still starts from the beginning. I have no start and end points. I believe there is a glitch in the program, the orange line goes to the front while the ACTUAL MARKER *WITH THE TRIANGLE ON TOP* stays where I put it.

terrypin wrote on 1/11/2012, 11:46 AM

Presumably this is with any project?

Although you've already used Reset to Defaults, it might be worth closing MEP, deleting videodeluxe.ini (after backing up) then restarting MEP.

Otherwise I'd recommend a re-install.

Hey there. I've got the same problem. Everything worked fine, all settings are still the way I want them to be, but the program suddenly won't remember the position of the playback marker anymore. Upon pressing play the movie always starts from the beginning. I noticed that the range start marker is completely missing, too and can't be set anymore, so I'm not able to select a video range. Any Ideas how to fix that?

Edit: Reinstalling the product didn't fix the problem with the video I'm working on, when starting a new project though, everything is working as it should again. I'm using the Pro MX plus version btw.

I have the same problem, This did not work..... I am working on multiple video clips and my other 5 work fine. It's just 1 I have a problem with.

worshipgal wrote on 1/18/2012, 6:39 PM

I found it!!!

Click the {►} button to the right of the play button ►. Be sure to hit stop first (stops everything).

Let me know if it works please. Hope it helps,

I know how frustrating it is and you can't even edit when it's like that!!

I don't have an answer here as I have the same question.

Has anyone been able to solve. I tried everything and nothing works.

Appreciate the help.

Thanks.

Had the same problem and none of the suggestions worked, but I found another one, so for future help-seeking users:

At the very bottom right of the timeline window, there is a double-headed arrow.

Scrolling over it it says "optimize view" or something similar in English.

The short cut is (it says so at least) ctrl + F   .

That did the trick for me. My version is 12.0.0.32.

rwinches wrote on 10/6/2014, 9:23 PM

Cntrl-F or <---> (at bottom right of main window worked for me.

Was having this same problem, ctrl + F worked for me too~ Thank you!

That worked for me as well. I like this program a lot but some of the documentation is pathetic and frustrating.

@Spider-Man

Hi

Which program - full name and version number are you referring to?

Update 02/01/2024:

Your comment has been hidden as it does not refer to a Magix video editing product.

Pleasing to see a thread still giving value a few days short of its 12th year. Looks like the interval averages about 1.2 years.

Happy New Year to my friends here!

Hi Terry.

I was asking John earlier in the year if he had heard from you.

Glad to see you. Happy New Year. If you ever visit Rochester / Medway, give me a heads up in a PM if you want a tour of the dockyard.

Ray.
