how do I get just a black or blue background. I can\'t find it in the manual

Hi Barbara,

I am not a user of Movie Edit Pro, but if I understand you correctly, you want to use the background in a mix or overlay.
Take a picture which you composed with the features desired in a picture edit program and import in your video.

I hope this will help as a start.
