Sorry I don't have Photostory to check details, but for Movie Edit Pro it is generally OK to copy effects from one program version to another -- it's just a matter of finding where things are stored. For my MEP on a Win 7 machine effects are in C:/ProgramData/MAGIX/Movie Edit Pro 2013 (or other version)/VideoEffects/. Often the folder structure is there even if some are empty or have only the few items that come with download installation.

For the free stuff, why not download a new set into 2014? There might be additions. I'd suspect that catooh purchases might be somehow copy protected to prevent wholesale re-distribution.
