Hitachi DVD+HDD camera

Hi how can I get the files from the camera over to the Magix Movie Edit Pro 14 Plus program.

I have tryed the Record:
DV camera
HDV camera
But It will not find my camera

The only way I can get the program to find my camera is when using the Import function, and then I have to import the VOB file.

Is that the only way to transport files from a Hitachi camra over to the program ?

If you're camera is a DVD cam, then that's exactly how the import would work. Why would you want it to be any other way? :-)

The DV/HDV capturing is for tape-based cameras. While there's nothing wrong with cameras based on this older technology and they do have various technical advantages over some cameras based on newer random access media (e.g. DVD, hard drive, memory stick), just being able to import a computer-readable file directly without any tedious capture process is really the most enjoyable part of the new camera generations, as far as I'm concerned.
