Hi,
This is common tape noise evident when converting to digital. It is in fact present on the tape but not easily heard through speakers which are designed to filter it out. When converted to digital it becomes "data" and is easily heard.

It's a fantastic noise gate that eliminates that noise during the transfer and also works as a compressor and etc. This is the swiss army knife of recording and everyone should have one!
