I have read the answers from 2022 - but I really dont get it. I have a trail-version, and really like to get startet. So, Can some one help me, at a level for at 5 y.o. child? :-/
First, you have selected Movie Edit Now as your software. Can you confirm this is the product you are seeking help with?
Second, ALL trial versions of Magix software are in some way limited; after purchase, registration and activation these limitations are removed and access to all features is then available.

I had not heard of this version before so went looking for it.
It is a free download so would be a full version and not a trial.
I downloaded it to try it out, so does the program look like this when you open it?
Click on any image to enlarge it and to the side of the image to return to this page.
Notice I tried to load an HEVC file and got the warning message that it can't be played. More on that later.
Minus my video content that I show above in that program, does it look the same as the image below once opened?
It is a very basic program even if you download the extras for it which do not include a needed HEVC extension which would be needed to edit your videos from your recorded clips in HEVC. To get that you would have to get the extension from the Microsoft store here.
Even then it may not work too well depending on the specifications of the device you are editing on due to the higher demands the HEVC wrapper demands of the decoding of the file for playback. Luckily the extension does not cost that much.
This editor though is very basic even if you managed to download the additional tool pack (which I never bothered to do).
and there may be better alternatives out there for free.
Any editor you choose though would need that additional HEVC extension as the codec it contains is not free of licencing fees.
You say explain as if to a five year old. Choosing to record in HEVC may make that difficult to do.
As far as I know, no-one here uses that program and all it can do is covered by the icons that the program shows when it is in use. There is very little to explain and easiest way to get used to the program is to click each icon you see to see what it does and make notes. You can also hover the mouse cursor over an icon to see what the icon represents.
Personally I don't like this software and have uninstalled it as like all freeware, wants access to all my files and folders. It's not malware but like any program that is free, it will collect browsing data to sell to advertisers.
If I turn the access to my files and folders off, the program immediately shuts down.
