Green Screen problem

Sugar-Shane wrote on 5/23/2022, 11:04 AM

I need Help fast. So I got this green screen explosion video. I used Video Pro x to remove the green in the video using the chroma key. at first I thought it worked, so I saved the video as PNG sequence. How ever when I checked on the images the background was now black instead of transparency (I.E the checker board). How do I fix this?

Hi and welcome to the user to user forums.

Not sure I know what you are trying to do here.

The point of a green screen background is to use it as a key for an overlay to another track. It is really its only use.

If you are trying to produce a transparent background to the explosion by not having any background present it will save any image with a blank (Black) background as seen on the viewing monitor.

So in short this is not a fix. Graphics programs like Boris Particle Illusion can do this and save as a movie clip with an alpha mask but as far as I'm aware this cannot be done in either Video Pro X or Movie Studio 2022.

Vegas Pro may have this ability, I'm not sure as that is more of the type of program for visual effects.

You can try uncompressed AVI, I'm not sure whether VPX can export it.

@Sugar-Shane

Hi,

As far as I know, there is not and never has been any checkerboard as a blank background in VPX. It is in other programs that I have seen, but not VPX. The default is black.

@Nalmcruto

Also, I'm quite sure that VPX cannot export with transparency.
