Hi

I have Web Designer V18 and use Windows 10 on a desktop.

However when clicking the 'Help - 'Check for updates' button everything grinds to a halt after a while.

I have been trying to download the latest version 18.5.0.62892 several times over the last 2 days. It is hopeless!

The most of the download it has ever managed is 21% - even if I leave the download update running all afternoon.

Please give me a direct link to this version as the link in the program is pathetic. I need a link which, when clicked, shows up on the download arrow and shows me that the latest version is actually being downloaded! It is only 76mb!

How can it take over 2 days to answer an email with a link to a downloadable file? Any competent person could do it in 5 minutes!

Please get your act together and get your download operation sorted out.

Jack

@Jack-Eccles

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums, so not a contact for any Magix staff.

Because these are public forums you should never post confidential, personal data, like your email address here. Hence I have edited your post.

To which email address did you send? The standard one for customer service is infoservice@magix.net, but please be aware that Magix staff are still, predominantly, working from home so a delayed response is not unusual.

However, to address your issue directly, it sounds very much as if your antivirus/firewall may be blocking the download, especially if you use Windows Defender. Try turning it/them off, temporarily, and also check the settings for Windows Protected Folders; again, you may need to temporarily turn this off whilst the download/installation proceeds.

Thanks - I will use the email you sent me and see what happens. I'll also try after I turn off Windows Defender (which I think is a dodgy thing to do). I don't know about protected folders.

Thanks for your help. Turning off Windows Defender did the trick. Back on again and scan ok.

All the best
