Tried this but the midi recordings are not coming out on the mp3 or wave mix.

Just had this issue and I figured it out. 

1. From options->system audio, set Driver system to ASIO. 

2. From arranger view, select your midi track and expand the Midi options on the left bar. Look at OUT: (output). Which Software synth output you select makes a difference. For some reason, 1. Microsoft GS Wavetable synth does not export to a bounced file. From the OUT: drop down selections, try selecting a Vital Instruments synth (specifically, in my case I needed percussion, so I chose an Acoustic percussion (Vital Instruments) version). This changes the sound from the midi file, but that can be adjusted in the object editor or software synth panel (right click on the OUT bar). 

Also make sure the software synth is not muted (left click on the OUT: selection. If it's yellow, it's not muted.)
