encoding error when buring to DVD

I have searched and searched, can not find an answer to my question.  I have movie edit pro version 14.  I have imported the movie from my camcorder, went to edit and did some fixes, and then went to burn.  I selected a menu and tested and it plays and everything clicks just fine.  I burn to DVD and it encodes and downmixes for about 2.5 hours, then it tells me there was an encoding error and there are no movies to encode.  Any ideas what the problem is?

I think there are no real answers to this because the cause can be so varied - it could be as simple as needing to update your burn routines or burner firmware or just needing to close down other background tasks/drivers via MSCONFIG. The cause could also be more complex, depending ont he situation. So, you could try the simple options to see if those help:

1. Download updated burn routines:

Make sure you double click on it after you download it to install it.

2. Check to see if there is a firmware update for your disc drive. You can generally find this on the website of the disc drive's manufacturer.

3. Click on the Start button, choose run and enter:

MSCONFIG

Shut down background tasks that may be in conflict - big culprits tend to be other multimedia software or other burning software.

If that doesn't help, contact tech support because it might be more of a complex issue:
