Just upgraded Movie Studio Platinum 2023 to 2024. When I use the Effects, the program freezes and have to cancel. It's not as if I have an old computer but...... W11 Pro, i7-13700k 3.40GHz, 32 GB RAM, ASUS Z790-P PRIME WiFi Intel LGA 1700 ATX,Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 all latest updates. Any clues appreciated.

Seeing as the hardware side of things should be coping with at least 4K footage, the most common reasons for slow downs and freezing is not enough free space on the C: drive for the program to continuously generate the temp swap files it needs as those files can get huge, or the project drive is too slow to transfer the data in the packets needed or the project files are on the desktop or a thumb drive or stored in the cloud.
On the other hand some effects like noise reduction will cause any system to come to a crawl or perhaps using 10 bit files with effects may cause that. The latter of which I'm not overly sure of but that extra two bits is an awful lot more data to process.

Thanks...... I export to D Drive 1TB SSD Samsung EVO 870 that has 886 GB free. The file is only 2GB 1920x1080. Doesn't do it in other programs Vegas Pro 21. Magix wanted $19.95 for upgrade over 2023. I was reluctant and should of listen to my instincts. I may go to Adobe...although it's subscription it works every time.

All the effects. When I check Effects on top after Import. The whole program freezes up and need to use Task Manager to delete. Just clips from my GoPro 12....I used the same file on Vegas Pro 21 with no issue..Perhaps a re-install may solve the issue...Shouldn't need to do this.
Can you give us the MediaInfo text of the video clip? See this tutorial if you don't know how.
If the file is variable frame rate or the program doesn't like it for some reason, it may either freeze or freeze for a while and then come back. Turn on the task manager and watch the graph for the hard drive that has the material to see if it goes to 100%
Did you try a new project with different material?

There is little in the file that would seem to cause trouble. Your system should be coping.
Try going into the project movie settings and alter the frame speed to 30 fps and see if that helps. 29.970 fps is normally only found on interlaced footage, not progressive.
If that doesn't work try opening up the nvidia control panel and under Help open the system specs and make sure your nvidia card is using PCIe 16 and not 8 or it could be how your SSDs are, or Bios is, configured.
