Edit MTS video

Catnip wrote on 2/6/2013, 10:20 AM

Hilfe bitte!!

When I load MTS video, the soundtrack shows no sound waveform.

The Volume Curve shows green as usual. But its volume ups-downs have no effect. So I cannot change the volume of the soundtrack.

No such problems with mpeg videos. Leading to a follow-up question: can PhotoStory convert MTS video into mpeg format?

Catnip,

The Magix Photostory page says supported import formats include, MPEG-4*, MTS*, and M2TS*. The asterisk indicates that " *MPEG-4 and Dolby®Digital must also be activated (£4.99)." Have you done this?

The only other suggestion is to check if you have set the option (as there is in Movie Edit Pro program settings) to "Extract sound from videos".

Regards,

Carl

Hello Carl (cpc000cpc),

Yes, I have activated MPEG-4 - for free in my PhotoStory on DVD 2013 Deluxe.

But I cannot locate an option to "Extract sound from videos" in DVD 2013 Deluxe. Would appreciate details on where this option is located.

Regards,

Don

Hi

I do not have Photostory installed however AFAICS from the manual, Photostory does not have the option to Extract sound from videos as Movie Edit Pro does, you can check this by pressing the P key to open the program settings dialog..

With Photostory closed, look in the folder where the video files are, to see if there are any files which have a file extension of .h0 and/or .hdp - if they exist move them into another folder, then start Photostory and try loading the project again.

Hello johnebaker,

Yes, P, Program settings confirms PhotoStory has no option to Extract sound from videos.

Would a move up to Movie Edit Pro solve my issue with soundtrack ? With other benefits also.... ?

No advance when I follow the suggestion to temporarily move the .hdp file into another folder, and re-start PhotoStory.

Don,

MEP certainly does have an option for auto extraction of audio -- I mostly use it to turn it off rather than importing bot audio and video, ungrouping, and then deleting it! I have imported MTS stuff (tests from a friend's camera) with no problems. Certainly there might be issues with peculiar codecs used by other camera manufacturers etc but that would be true for an video editor.

As to other benefits, I don't have or use PhotoStory but from most of the discussions here it seems that its features are pretty much all available in MEP which has wizards for 'Slideshow Maker' and movie templates etc. Add to that you have access to the basic (and I don't mean primitive or inflexible) tools that are being used behind the scenes to create all the auto-effects. eg The ad say it has 'Picture-in-picture animations (+10)', but I don't see any mention of key frame animation with which you can create any dynamic arrangement you can imagine assuming you have full crop and zoom available for your images.

I'd try the free demo download of MEP 2013 asap!. Note some features are only in the Plus or Premium versiion.

Regards,

Carl

John

Many thanks Carl and Johnebaker.

I followed your advice and installed Move Edit Pro Plus 2013.

MEP has smoothed my way into editing HD footage and I'm having a ball. On Saturday Feb 16 I leave on a vacation with this camera, confident that all will go well in editing footage afterwards.

One neat thing - the camcorder visible in the promo for MEP is exactly my model, Panasonic HC-X900M !

Thanks again for your help.
