Edit in low quality, export in high quality

I have some big MTS files that, runs pretty slow on my computer. If I let Magix convert this MTS file into a lower quality, it runs just perfect while I do the edit. But is it then possibly to export it into a high quality, like the original MTS file ?

It seems to me, that the exported file, keeps the low quality.

Hello once more.
You don't necessarily need to convert, depends on your system. To ease your system you can reduce the resolution to half or quarter, the finished movie quality will be as high as you set it.

Good luck.

My MTS file is 850 mb in HD format, and runs at 29,9 fps. When I play this file in any player, it runs just fine, but when I load it into Magix, it runs very bad/slow.

Magix tells me, to convert it to another smaller format, and in the little preview window, it runs just fine.but the end result is in very bad quality, compared to the original MTS file. I tried to export the end result in HD format, but that did not help.

Do you mean, that I can load the MTS file, then just resize the preview window, edit the file and then should my original MTS file runs just fine while I do the edit ?

I found something under "Program Settings" - "Video/Audio" - "Movie Display" - Full, Half, Quarter or low resulotion. Is that what you mean ?

If I select one of them, I get this error "The stated file does not exist".

What can I do ?

Yeah, that's the right place.  To get rid of that message, click on Path Settings, next to Video/Audio and check what you see under Image Editor. You should have - ( under XP, Win /7 Vista a little different?)

C:\Program Files\MAGIX\Xtreme_Photo_Designer_6\XPD.exe

as you need a legitimate link to the correct .exe file. If you do not have this program installed,  download it from -

http://www.magix.com/uk/free-downloads/free-software/xtreme-photo-designer/

Once installed make sure the link is chosen in Program Settings. Once that's set, you should be able to change preview resolution.
