Hi

On page 16 of the installed pdf manual you will find the videoformats that Video Pro X 4 supports -  DVCPROHD does not appear in the list.

You will need to use a converter for to produce a compatible file format - did one come with the camera software?

No I don't have a camera It is footage I got from a friend but is in Quicktime format and even quicktime cant play it

But actually on the ads for Video Pro X 4 it say it supports this format. I will have to find footage elsewhere from someone who uses a PC not a Mac

Thanks

Hi

Video Pro X supports Quicktime (MOV) files which contain any of the supported codecs inside - HD MOV files usually have the H.264 video codec inside which is supported.

MOV is a container format and can have any video and audio codecs inside it - in the case of the file(s) you have they have the DVCProHD format inside which is not supported as standard.

The Magix website says - MAGIX Video Pro X4  ...... optionally with all professional video formats such as DVCPRO, AVC-Intra

There is an activation fee for the DVCPro codec - see here (in the small print at the bottom).  Did VPX 4 prompt you to activate the codec when you tried to import the video file?

Hi John

Well I spoke to Magix sales here in the US and they did not know anything about this codec

apairently they don't sell it but the P2 .MXF files will work in both VPX4 and Sequoia.

Tim Dolbear will be back from vacation tomorrow and I will speak to him about this and see

what I can find out and let you know. A fine example of one hand not talking to the other

Cheers
