I am having a crash issue as well. I get no errors, the program just starts to load and then crashes before it finishes loading.

Actually I found this is related to a crash I had previously where I would go to particular directories and the program would crash. It turns out Magix didn't like something about the directory it was starting in. I tried removing the cache file, but no luck. I renamed the directory and it is working for the moment. Seeing if a database cleanup will help, but I don't think that's the issue. There are definitely reproducible issues with the software crashing lots. It only seems to be impacted by certain directories, but there is no pattern that I have been able to see. I cannot get in contact with Magix customer support- at least right now it says theor system is down..

I am able to use the program, but if I go into the directory I renamed, it crashes.

Hi

Assuming you are using the latest version of PhotoManager try using the database optimization function, Database, Optimize database, to repair the database and correct missing/renamed entries if any are found.

I am using photo manager deluxe 17. I did the database cleanup, however the program still crashes if I try to view photos in particular directories (one that I remember, I am not sure how I dealt with this issue when it happened in the past). There is nothing strange in the directory. Just photos, and a free that have been modified with an "originals" directory. I'm happy I at least found a workaround to use the program for now

It turns out I am NOT using the latest version.

This issue happened again and this time I tracked it down to the photo album. I was able to get the program to start by renaming the album.

I uninstalled the older deluxe version of the product, and installed the latest free version. The interesting thing is that the help-about shows version 13 in both cases. It did install in the directory with the 17 so my best assumption is that this is the correct latest software.

 

Nonetheless, I have confirmed that the crashing problem still exists on this latest version of the software. There are multiple issues, but I can go to the photo album that caused crashes prior, and the software crashes still. There is a possibility that the crash is related to a raw image file in the directory (though this raw file is no different than other raw files in my collections). I only say that because thumbnails showed for all but 2 photos before it crashed. One was the raw photo and I'm not sure what the other was due to the crash.

As implied in my reply to your other post, the current, latest version is 13; I do not see how you could possibly have previously had version 17, therefore.

The current Photo Manager Deluxe (13.x.x.x) is referred to as Photo Manager (17) in the list of my registered software.

IIRC this was the name of the product before the last major update on it.

Added: Make sure there are no images, video files or other files in the folder(s) that are not supported by Photo manager - I have had it crash with some RAW image files.

It turns out Photo Manager has problems with CR2 (Cannon Raw) files. Tech support has confirmed they can repeat the problem and said there would be a fix in the next update. I have been waiting since January for an update and no luck yet.

 

This program is almost completely useless to me since I shoot Raw + Jpeg most often and keep the photos together.
