Converting analog 8 mm video tape to digital without an analog video camera

sony video camera was destroyed in a flood. Is there any equipment available that I can use to convert my fideo cassetts to Digital without purchasing an obsolete analog video camera

Video players for Hi8 have been produced, but very expensive, I have seen. So there is probably no other way than trying to get an old camera, f. i. on Ebay.

The best way may be to get a Sony D8 camera which can digitize Hi8 directly, but not all Sony D8-cameras can (one of them is DCR-TRV320).
