Hi

. . . . when I burn a DVD, the fonts come out jagged . . . .

If you are viewing the DVD on a HD TV or HD monitor then the cause of the 'jaggies' may be due to the upscaling of the image from 720*576 (PAL) or 720*480 NTSC to 1920*1080 or the resolution of the HD TV / monitor.

.Jaggies are unavoidable when upscaling from a lower resolution to high, they are worst when the font used has sloping sides eg italics and where letters have sloping sides eg A, you can minimise this effect by choosing a font which has minimal sloping in the sides of the letters.

Hi

Are you exporting to these Standard Definition formats from an HD project? The title editor in MEP is dependant on the project settings / resolution and will often show aliasing artifacts and distortions during the down res. Make sure your project's settings match your intended export settings.

If you have edited an HD project and wish to change the projects setting to PAL Widescreen DVD you can do this in the Movie settings and then Save As a new SD project. This will retain all your editing and affects but just check the Title looks good and modify any detail like the outline thickness of the font to suit the lower resolution.

Another method is to export the HD project as HD then bring that into a new project / timeline and export as SD. This has the effect of "baking in" the HD title prior to the SD render.
