Computer Camera "disturbing" Magix

T-L wrote on 1/9/2021, 3:53 AM

Hi. I have started to use Magix Video Easy after a long break to digitize my old VHS tapes. I managed to install it to my Windows 10 computer, and everything went fine until I did a mistake: I created a new project without connecting the USB converter to my computer first. That seem to have made my computer's camera the "number one option" for Magix. I can still choose the converter from the menu but when I try to convert my VHS tapes, nothing happens because the computer camera is on and it somehow prevents Magix from using the converter. I have tried to put the camera off but that doesn't help, it still gets on.

Any tips for what I should do?

Hi, and welcome to the user to user forums.

Try connecting the converter and starting Windows. Wait for Windows to fully load. Then go to Windows power options by clicking on the Windows icon in the bottom task bar and pressing Power. Select Restart from the three options rather than shutdown. That should give you a clean boot restart rather than Windows remembering the last configuration it had when you use the shutdown option or hit the power off button.

See if that works.

Ray.

Hi and thank you for your answer. Since the last time I managed to make it work somehow. But now I have the same problem again as described above. It happened because I forgot to connect the Magix USB cable before I started the program. And now I can't remember what to do so that the webcam wouldn't disturb the program. The advice above doesn't work. What should I do?

Hi

Did you select the USB device as the source for capturing video using the dropdown shown below

Thank you for your answer. Yes I did. But now the problem seems to have fixed itself. When I was in the next window, I just "played" with the settings and suddenly it started working again. I have no idea what was the problem but now the problem has been solved anyway.
