Cannot open waveform device speakers

HI Forum,

I recently upgraded to a new high end laptop for my video editing. I have been using Video Pro x 13 some time on my current high end machine, with no software issues. I opened a new project on my new machine, dropped a video clip into the timeline, started to review and received an error message as follows:

' Cannot open waveform device speakers (Realtex (R) audio for playback Reason : undefined external error'

How do I fix this? never came across this before - can you help?

Hi Cliff.

Right click on the loudspeaker Icon in your task bar and select Open Sound Settings. Then open the Sound control panel from there.

See if the Speakers are active. Also check they are working with the test facility in the advanced setting there.

Mine is set to 24 bit 96kHz.
