Cannot get video and sound to show in "rescue your video tapes".

I cannot get any video or sound to be imported into RYVT after extensive testing, all I get is a blue screen and silence.

I have tried to import in a number of ways, by svhs and composite signals from a Panasonic NV-HS930, the recorder apparently being recognised by RYVT as it gives me the option to connect by svhs or composite. The Magix video convertor shows in "safely remove hardware" as Magix video convertor 3", and can be removed ok, it is model K0065 (all black).

RYVT has just been purchased from Amazon, it is version 9.0. The pc is running win10, 64bit fully patched and up to date. Using AMD A8-9600 Radeon R7, it was built by an excellent local pc shop and is very fast with lots of spare disc capacity.

I tried connecting a Sony DV camcorder model DCR-TRV-20E, but the RYVT software did not recognise it and did not give me any connection options. Both the video recorder and camcorder output correctly to a tv and the same cables where used to connect to the pc.

It seems to be as if a door is closed within the pc blocking the input from the Magix dongle.

After extensive reading of this forum, I also downloaded and installed the 32bit driver, but no different. I also checked the camera and microphone settings in "privacy", and both are set to "share".

I have no idea what to try now, please help!!!

Fair enough as I don't own either and don't know which is supposed to be the newer device. If it is the black one and were me I would definitely want to talk to Magix about it.

I did indeed send a message to Magix support, and am just now working through their reply. Don't think it will work as the file they recommended me to download was already downloaded previously.

However I am going through the motions and will see what happens.

Still no good. The driver files they recommended had been offered by you and tried unsucessfully. Still no picure or sound, and the driver still says sucess at 6% install.

I'm sorry to hear that but at least you have a working solution now.

I'm beginning to wonder about Magix claims to be compatible with AMD hardware as we seem to get more complaints from people having problems with AMD systems than Intel ones.

Anyway. Good luck and hopefully you will finish your projects.

There is no working solution, nothing has worked up to now!

Either from the forum or Magix themselves.

Sorry, my mistake.

I had you muddled with another persons query on the forums that got his red convertor to work after not being able to get the black one to work.

The processor type should have no bearing of the issue - the device is windows/software controlled.

I suspect there is a 'fault' either:

with the USB port - if it is a USB 3 port I have had and seen issues plugging USB2 devices into them where they do not switch the 'USB2 mode' - did you try inserting the converter into another USB socket on the computer?

or
the converter itself is faulty.

Do you have a friendly computer shop near you who could either lend you a converter or test yours?.

I have tried 3 usb ports (two front, one rear) all of which I know are good as they get used for other things.

I do not have direct access to a "friendly computer shop near you who could either lend you a converter or test yours", and remember we are in the middle of a lockdown in the UK.

I have sent a further mail to Magix saying their solution had been tried previously and did not work but for completeness I did try it again.

The thing that seems strange to me in all this is the behaviour of the driver when uninstalling or reinstalling. It shows the %, but it moves very slowly AND only gets to less than 10% before it says done. Getting really fed up of this now, and thinking of buying an alternative, any recommendations?
