Can I use Movie Edit Pro to edit video made with flash camcorder?

I bought Movie Edit Pro 16 last month at the same time I got my first camcorder - a FS200 Canon flash camcorder. I'm just reading the manuals for both now. I have two questions:

1. Can I do simple editing of video made with a flash camcorder using the Movie Edit Pro software?

2. After I have the finished video on my hard disk, how long will it take to burn a DVD? Just an approximate estimate would help.

I am an absolute beginner in all this.

As far as I understand, the camera is a SD-camera saving the files as MPG. Import or copy the files to the PC via the USB and open in MEP. No problem. --- How long time to burn a full DVD depends much on your PC. From a couple of hours and up to "half a night", I guess.
