Can I upgrade from Platinum to suite without purchasing a new version

DeniseL wrote on 1/24/2024, 8:11 AM

I was wondering if I could just use the upgrade option for my platinum to go to suite, rather than buying another version. I have been buying upgrades for this software since I think version 14.

Hi,

Yes. If not, you will be told during checkout, but normally there should be no problem.

Note that the only difference between the two is that proDAD VitaScene V5 Pro comes with Suite. I guess that it is worth the extra 10$ or so.

BTW, in case you think that you will be getting the access to StoryBlock and Text-to-Speech, you will not. They only come with a subscription, not the perpetual offering (upgrade) which is what you have mentioned.

Yeah I was thinking the extra $10 would be worth it. Now I'm wondering if its worth updating from 2023 if I don't get the text to speech. That was one of the main reasons I was considering it. Thanks for the heads up, I will have to think about the differences now, is it worth the cost in Canadian...

Hi,

Well, I was looking at the Canadian site, so 10$ Canadian. It's also 10% US on the US site. Don't tell Magix.

Unfortunately, you can't do this in Movie Studio 2023 as it doesn't have the HUB unless you have subscribed. MMS2024 has the HUB tab and you can log in and see what you are missing. If you really intend to go to 2024, you have to determine if really intend to upgrade every year and whether or not you need and will use the additional StoryBlocks content (limited amount per month) and/or Text-to-Speech. For the latter, it seems that there is also a monthly limit according to what I see on the Vegas forum.

I just thought of this. You can first download and install the trial version of Suite. It should not remove the Platinum 2023, which is a good thing (if you had Suite 2023, it would be replaced by Suite 2024). Once installed, go to the HUB tab and try logging in. If successful, then you can see what content is available and also how Text-to-Speech works. You just can't get or do anything.

Hi John, Sorry when I said Canadian I meant the US price and then our wonderful dollar adds another 35 cents on the dollar... so i would be more than $10 for me to purchase. I don't think I use it enough for subscription based and I also think right now I'm good with 2023. Not sure there is enough right now for me to justify the cost plus exchange... but thanks so much for the heads up, appreciate it.

Hi,

Since you are in Canada, on the Magix.com site, go to the globe at the upper right, click on it and change it to Canada English. You will then get the Canadian price of $10CAD. Don't ever use the US site to pay for Magix products as you'll like have to pay more - exchange rate plus credit card exchange rate fee.

I do like the 2024 version better, but there was not a lot that was changed. As well, the offering is not all that attractive. I suggest that you wait until Magix comes up with a better plugin offer, like including Mercalli V6 (unless you already have it). There will undoubtedly be a better price at some point. Or wait until 2025 comes out...with a good plugin.
