Thank you for your response. I believe you are correct. Although in the past I have burned mores that 4 parts on a single disc, this time the parts were a bit larger. In PS the size of all parts was indicated to be about 4.5GB (the disk size is 4.7GB). I guess that the combined project size is a bit too close to the maximum.

I was able to burn two projects onto two separate disks successfully. Although there is now a large amount of wasted space on the discs, at least it worked and the discs play on my TV.

If the combined projects, pre-export, total 4.5GB then yes, there would not be enough room on the disc for the additional files which exporting to DVD creates and which are necessary for playback on any DVD player.

No, not really, because I believe the size of those additional files is directly proportionate to the complexity of the actual slideshow project being exported.

Personally, I would always attempt to keep the project, without those additional files, below about 4.2 or 4.3GB.

To add to @emmrecs comment, in addition to keeping the total file size down also keep the total runtime of the movies, + menus if they run for several minutes, to less than 2 hours for standard DVD.

Hi

The default settings of the Blu-Ray disc burn options give you a total video run time of approx 2 hours, and will warn you if the disc capacity is being exceeded and ask if you want the bitrate adjusted automatically or do it manually.

It is possible to squeeze up to 2.5 hrs of video on a standard BD disc on to a BD disc by reducing the video average and maximum bitrate, this is what the auto adjust does, however you are doing so at the expense of quality.

It is also possible to use Dual layer BD discs which give you nearly double the run time, however you burner must support writing to them.

Yes, I've tried to accept the reduced video settings but the writing still fails. I have ordered more single-layered discs so will try creating much smaller projects to see if that works, then increase them slowly to experiment.

I always use rewriteable BD-RE disk for the initial burn and checking - often I find a small tweak is needed in the video which is not apparent on a monitor, however is on a big screen TV and I can re-use the disk.

Once the disk is OK, I then copy the BD-RE it to a standard BD-R disk using a disc burning program such as Nero Burning Rom or ImgBurn.

This avoids making coasters and wasting disks.

Rather than repeated burning to used-once BD discs (with the potential to produce coasters) have you tried using the "Image Recorder" option to produce an image file, which you could then test-burn to a rewritable BD disc?

Also, how big (in GBs) is the total project? A standard BD disc should hold about 25 GB; I would, personally, want to ensure my completed and exported project was no more than about 20 - 22 GB, thus ensuring some disc headroom.
