burning

I have the Magix edit pro 12..had for a few weeks now..ive been able to transfer my movie from vhs/mini dv/hi 8, BUT when i go to burn, it says its burning, but after like 14hrs, still there!..one day i left and item for over 16hrs...why cant i finalize this trans..the instructions arent too clear, iver looked over the pdf help file and nothing...for those of you who have been working with this product for a while, pls advice..wht am i doing wrong?...also, where it says "used space on media:xxxMB/4482" what does that mean?I have added files, im am trans to dvd, so i know i have 4.7gigs, about 2hrs of video?..PLS help!!

Try to burn a much smaller movie...... and see if that works. MEP 12 does not handle burning a well as MEP 15 or 16. The "used space..." refers to the amount of room on the DVD vers the size of the movie file you are trying to burn. With MEP 12 you are kinda stuck with the size problem (movie too big....will not fit). With MEP 15 and 16 they allow you to have the program adjust the bit rate to "squeeze" the movie onto the DVD even if it is much bigger then the DVD should hold. This is done by lowering the resolution (bits per second of information) in areas of the movie that are static without really affecting the "look" of the movie. 

It does take a long time to compile a long movie but not 14 hours. Something else is going on. Try to turn off every other running process (anti virus, updaters..) and let your computer work undisturbed. If this doesn't work upgrade your ram or computer.
