In the situation which you are there are, potentially, a number of problems, any or all of which could be contributing to your black screen! Essentially, these are:
.mov files will almost always require that Quicktime is installed on your computer, especially since you are using what is, now, quite an old version of PS. Do you have QT on your computer? If not, you may need to download and install it, even though it is now not officially supported for Windows.
Video files from mobile phones are very often created with variable frame rate. Almost all video editing programs, including PS, have great difficulty playing such files successfully. To resolve this, you will need to convert each file to constant frame rate, using an app like the (free) Handbrake.
It would be very helpful to us, in trying to help you, if you were to find, download and install the free MediaInfo utility, point it to one of your iPhone video files and post the results of the Text view here. That will give us a lot more information about the actual file.
