Audio Clipping In Exported File In Movie Maker 2024 Platinum

Sterfry wrote on 10/22/2024, 1:03 AM

I keep having an issue where the audio in an exported rendered video is clipping incredibly, even though there's no clipping when listening or watching in the software. I've played around with different audio bit rates and such but nothing tends to change the clipping. I have the "Mastering" tab turned in in the mixer as well as the limiter. I've read in other threads that if the audio is too loud it will clip after rendering but I'm just using ambient wind and walking and I have each sound channel turned down to around -7db. Anyone have any ideas what's going on?

Hi and welcome to the user to user forums.

Sorry no-one has got to answer your question yet. Let's try one thing at a time and see if one of the following steps help. You may have already tried some of them.

First, are you sure the sound you hear is clipping which is normally heard as a series of clicks or pops and not the type of distortion normally heard via analogue audio. Please forgive me if I'm stating the obvious to you.

Check that your audio inputs and outputs on your computer within Windows are all set to no more than 48kHz 24 bit and see if that helps. For now keep to those settings while checking the next bit.

Are you just running one stereo audio track at any one time within the project? If not, how many tracks are in use at the same time? What type of files are the audio files? Are they more than 24 bit or using a sampling rate higher than 48kHz? If none of that applies to your situation can you answer the following? If it does apply, try making a test project using audio files with lower sampling rates and bit depths to see if things improve.

Still no luck? Then please answer the following.

Where are the files stored? Are they on a second drive and if so are they on an internal or external drive and what type of drive? Are they on One Drive or another cloud based storage solution?

Can you give a screen shot of your project timeline showing all the tracks in use please?

Ray.

Hi

. . . . using ambient wind . . .

A quick check to see if the audio in the source video is clipping, ensure the audio is on a separate track and the waveform is displayed.

You should see flat topped sections, as shown below, where the audio is clipped.

If adding a sound effect, do the same check.

Note: depending on the audio encoding format, you may not get a waveform.

If the clipping is in the audio of the video or the audio effect file, you can try using the DeClipper option under Audio Cleaning for the video.

If an audio effect file, then you need to find a better one - I have some that when imported are pure 'white noise' and are useless.
