Amplifier to Laptop static

I have a laptop and am trying to setup my system where we can record our sermons. When we come from "custom" amplifier "record out" to computer mic in and try to record, we get an aweful amount of static. Before we even say anything into the mic, it appears that the input is already almost half the way up the level.   I have tried turning down the volume on my mic but this didn't help.  Please help

Hi,
Hopefully you have an easy solution... simply use the line-in instead of mic in.

I've mentioned in many posts that the mic-in is very problematic; especially with studio software because studio mics and equipment are not wired like a computer mic.

If you do not have a line-in on your laptop (a few don't) then double click the speaker icon in your task bar, go to the advanced button under Microphone and make sure the +20db is NOT checked... if it is uncheck it.

Let me know how it works out,
Justin
