Hi,

Yes.

The additional content that comes with MEP/MMS will probably not need to be updated. You will be advised. The additional content is put in a public folder under Video Content. The installation of the program detects whether or not there are any changes and lets you know. Previously, the additional content was saved under ProgramData for each verson - no longer - it's saved only once and updated as necessary.

The price is right for upgrading. Just make sure that your computer is powerful enough as the requirements have changed.

You may want to indicate your hardware details and OS here and in your signature. Check my signature. As well, check the Specifications on Magix.com to make sure that your hardware is well above the minimum.

Thank you for your response. I'm running Windows 10 Pro x64 on a Xeon Quad Core 3.60GHz with 8 processors, 32 GB RAM, with NVidia Quadro P4000 w/ 1GB RAM. I looked a the specs and my system should handle the upgrade, and then some. My concern was I like what MEP 2019 came with, so I didn't want the extras and embedded effects to disappear. The upgrade I was planning to purchase appears to be just for the program and did not include additional content.

@cocobacon

Hi,

Just to make sure, purchase Magix Movie Studio 2024 Platinum or Suite, not the basic version (I don't think that it's available anymore, at least I hope not)

I believe that this is what you are referring to (in MMS2024).

In MMS, go to Help, Install extra content and open it till you get the same screen. If the version numbers are the same as in my image, then when you install MMS2024, they will be listed as already installed. Only new or changed things will be available.

Most of what is in the screen shot is installed here:

which you will see during installation if you open the screen to modify locations. You can check on your computer to see if that is where the content is stored.

Thank you. I checked as you indicated above. Weird. I bought a new computer on January 2024 and reinstalled MAGIX. The available content screen shows these were installed in July 2023 (I guess based on online record), but they seem to be present for use in the editor, after the new computer. And, my file manager does NOT have a "videocontent" folder in the path you showed. I'm installing again to see if anything changes.

As far as upgrade, I'm looking at the Suite. That proDad add-on looks interesting.

Hi

. . . . As far as upgrade, I'm looking at the Suite. . . . .

Which version have you installed, from what you have written above it sounds like you have installed 2019, and not 2024 - is this correct?

. . . . I'm installing again to see if anything changes. . . .

This does not usually fix things unless you uninstall first and remove all the leftover files, folders and registry fragments, and can make any issues you have worse.

. . . . my file manager does NOT have a "videocontent" folder in the path you showed . . . .

If you are using the File Manager within the program, it won't.

Using Windows File Explorer the folder is,as indicated by @browj2, in:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common

Greetings. I am running Movie Edit Pro 18.0.2.235 and want to upgrade to MS 2024. I have purchased and installed extra content along the way, including title and effect packs and NewBlue plugins, and wanted to make sure that when the upgrade is installed, those items won't disappear.

I erred when I said File Manager. I did mean Windows Explorer. All the components are installed and work in the program, but they don't show up in Windows Explorer.

Is it possible it didn't create a folder because I chose not to save the downloaded installation files in the directory?

@cocobacon

Hi.

Just try C:/ Program files and the various folders for the content packs should be there.

Inside each one you recognise should be the additional folders of each fx pack.

Ray.
