Add Facebook Messenger to website

Has anyone figured out how to add the Facebook messenger to their site? I went to the Web Page Properties and added the code in the Body like it says, but nothing happened. I assume this requires going in and adding the code manually somewhere within the generated code of the page itself. Does this mean I need to edit the code directly on server side through the webhost site?

@Jason-Marquette

Hi

. . . . I went to the Web Page Properties and added the code in the Body like it says, but nothing happened. . . . .

Are you referring to these instructions?

Doing this in the Web Page properties is not the correct method for Web Designer.

You need to create a Placeholder in the location where Messenger should appear on the page, and in its Web properties, Placeholder tab add the body code to the HTML code (body) and the SDK code to the HTML code (head)
