I know your pain. Not a problem before, but once it saw the CD and then it was gone. I even added a second CD device with no success.

@MichaelR43 @Joe-Toughill

It could help if you update the Burn Routines by Magix from here https://my.hidrive.com/lnk/jHAqmebc

Well, Michael, I removed the CD drive and used an USB external drive to do the work. My guess a bad CD drive is the reason, as the USB drive was immediately useful. However, it wouldn't hurt to reinstall the device and try your fix. I'll post the result when I try it. Thanks for the help in advance.

Okay Mike, I got the replacement CD drive, and it worked once, but then went dead. I then started to think about this situation and thought: what other software on this PC uses the CD? Of course, it is iTunes. I uninstalled all of the iTunes applications. Apple updater, iTunes, iCloud and other smaller actors. This released the CD drive and now it works. Every time. BTW this PC is quite old: HP Entertainment PC with Intel Centrino Processor & 3gb memory, Win 10 Pro 32 bit, Magix Audio Cleaning Lab13.

Joe-Toughill Interesting that the Apple/ITunes appeared to be the issue for you. I actually don't have any of that on my computer. I'm just now getting back here, as right after I posted originally, it started working again, but now, having the same issue, again. In fact, I just burned some cd's a couple of weeks ago; no issues. But today, no luck.
