Some tips for anyone interested. How I got acid stable for myself
Run acid in windows 8 compatibility mode.
With acid running, go to task manager - processes - set acid priority high, not ultra as it could slow other tasks.
check your cpu voltage settings in bios, even an overclock or under clock has been very helpful in stabilising acid
Make sure no other versions of a plugin exist when it comes to version numbers as you could be working on ‘vst synth version 3.1.1’ reload the project and acid tries to load ‘vst synth version 1.2’ which causes a crash. I don't think acid looks for version numbers of vsts during re loading a project, Be precise on only having one version number of a vst.
The main contender for crashes on my system was cpu spikes. It needed cpu stability to prevent spikes, especially when inserting a plugin whilst a project is running, a split second cpu spike whilst inserting a plugin caused a crash
I fixed this by lowering my cpu voltage in my bios settings, my cpu works better in acid with a lower cpu voltage, my old computer worked better with acid on a higher cpu voltage.
I use Acid version 10.0.2 build 20 as its stable for me, I downgraded my version, but that was before my tweaks, so I may now try the latest version.
Windows cpu optimisation I also use.
Hope this helps someone.
