Despite COVID-19 we are happy to provide you with a public beta version for the first patch of ACID Pro 10 today.

Sidechaining
Desperately wanted by you, the ACID community, for years, sidechaining has finally found its way into ACID Pro 10!

To test it, please do this:

  • Create a track with a beat
  • Than a track with a pad sound
  • Drop the efx_compressor on the pad-track
  • Right click the plugin-name in the mixer or in the plugin-chain dialog.
  • There you will find a submenu with all potential source-tracks, where you can checkmark the beat-track as the sidechaining-sender
  • Now you only have to enable „Sidechaining“ inside the efx_compressor and adjust the pumping ;-)

Advanced Sidechain Sender

You can lower and filter the sidechain source signal in the SidechainSender plugin window

More link options for Morph Pads

There is a new menu for more link options

Check it out and be creative

Multithreaded VST scan

The scanning process has been accelerated considerably.

Parallel scanning shortens the scanning time many times over.

WAVES plugin support

We fixed the issue, that some WAVES plugins doesn't process the signal (e.g. SSL bus compresso

We are looking forward to your feedback!

I don't have AP10 but will likely get it once sidechaining is smoothly implemented so that is great to hear . Is there a graphical display of the sidechaining effect like in another very poplar DAW? I hope that's how it is being implemented because it's very useful. I'd also suggest testing the sidechaining with a kick and bass line and reporting those results.

Former user wrote on 5/18/2020, 10:08 AM

First, thank you Magix for all the work you've done to make AP10 better. With that said, The new beta update, for me, was a complete disaster, No AP 10 projects would load, AP10 froze during project loading. even got a BSD during one project load. This beta update was tested on 2 computers getting the same results on each computer. Both computers use Windows 10 pro, have SSD hard drives (for OS & Storage) 32 GB ram, ASUS mother boards with six core AMD processors and RME audio interfaces. All have the newest drivers and updates. The updated seemed to work on its own (new project) and loaded noticeably quicker but if it won't load AP10 projects it's a non-starter. So now I've uninstalled the beta update and reinstall the original AP10 build and things are working properly again. Best of luck to everyone with the new update, Cheers

Hi Maxtheschu,

it makes us sad to hear that you have such big problems with the ACID Pro 10 beta patch. This version was tested by us and in the beta forum and there were no such issues. I will contact you personally so that we can find and fix it with your support.

We would be very grateful for further support from the ACID community.

Thank you very much, Torsten & the ACID team

After a lot more investigation the culprit has been found (at least I think so 😉)

The short of it is, a 32bit VST plug in (Lexicon Native Reverb). I reinstalled the AP10 beta and tested it on a number of projects.

If the Lexicon plugin is in use in a project it can take 3 minutes plus to load and when it does load the plugin won't function. I stated in my original comment that projects wouldn't load but they will it just took MUCH longer than I was expecting and one must admit that 3 minutes plus is a bit to long for a project to load. Some projects took only a couple of minutes to load (depending on the size and the number of times the plugin was used in the project).

If the plugin is removed from the project and then reinserted the plugin will function but when saved and the project reopened the original problem occurs. This also happens in new projects, the plugin is inserted in a bus (or track) and works perfectly. When saved and reopened the problem occurs again. (long load time and non functioning Lexicon plugin)

So there you have it, a 32bit Lexicon Reverb is the problem. Thank you Thomas for taking the time to help and not letting me give up on this problem, Best Regards

Thank you Max for helping us so much to locate the problem!
This loading problem can only occur with a handful of 32x plugins. It is fixed and we will provide an update asap.

Great stuff already coming out of there being an open beta!

@Matt-Francis I put together a quick video showing you how sidechaining works with the stock filters in AP10 which should answer your question

jocker-boy wrote on 5/21/2020, 3:07 AM

Are there any updates planned for AP9 users in near future?

Former user wrote on 5/21/2020, 8:43 AM

@jocker-boy

Sorry to say but they're done with AP9 so don't look for anymore updates. The fact is they want you buy AP10 and in the not to distance future AP11 etc. Cheers

Thanks for that. The way they have done it is not exactly what I hoped for but I'm happy they've added it. I really like Ableton's implementation with the graphical display that shows what the effect is doing in real time. Maybe that is something they can implement later down the track. I'll download the trial as I want to test out a kick and deep subby bass line.

Matt-Francis wrote on 5/22/2020, 1:38 AM

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I am guessing that to adjust how much the kick makes the bass duck I just adjust the threshold? The further to the right the threshold goes the less it affects the bass line?

Torsten wrote on 5/22/2020, 1:46 AM

@jocker-boy

the focus for new features is on AP10. However, we have an overview of all versions back to AP8 and will create maintainance patches if necessary.

jocker-boy wrote on 5/22/2020, 4:52 AM

@ jocker-boy

nowe funkcje skupiają się na AP10. Mamy jednak przegląd wszystkich wersji z powrotem do AP8 i w razie potrzeby utworzymy łatki konserwacyjne.

thank you for info Torsten. :)

Cheers

@Torsten

Sidechaining works fantastic by me. Thanks a lot!

Could you please also make it available in Vegaspro (as VST2 perhaps) for narrator (the same situation as kick to pad)? I know you are not one team.

In Sony era ACID Pro introduced once the VSTi Garritan Personal Orchestra as a supplement or advertisement but I have had bad experience with it.

I'm loyal yet uncertain whether ACIDpro suitable/good for such giant at all. Thanks again.

And be healthy!

@Matt-Francis Threshold isn't a measure of how much if affects the compressor. Rather, it's the level at which the compressor kicks in. By how much is defined in the other settings. I'm still very much confused by compressors, and their different interfaces, and differences in sound.. The help for the eFX one - which is included in earlier version of Acid if i remember correcetly explains a bit more. My personal go to is Fabfilter's Pro C2, which has a lovely visual interface and great sound, it's a bit more responsive to eFX - which does actually say it's a soft, less responsive compressor by design.

maybe worth spinning this discussion in to a thread outside of the context of the beta?

Armando1980 wrote on 5/22/2020, 10:28 AM

Hi @Torsten, thanks for the update. I recently upgraded to AP10 Suite and I was excited that Serum was said to be included. However, when I go to Help and attempt to DL Instruments, Xfer Serum does not show up as an option to download. How do I get access to Serum, as I do have the Suite version of AP10. TIA!

Matt-Francis wrote on 5/28/2020, 6:05 AM

I am trialling the beta version. So far the sidechaining seems to work OK however the 32bit StereoExpander plug in fails to load and now the 64bit Ozone Imager has failed to load too. I will try a rescan and see how that goes.

Hello, I recently made an update from AP 9 to AP 10 and installed the latest update, but I have a problem with the coupon I received after purchasing the package from Producer Planet.The site does not accept it in the window.And so it displays.And so with every other package.

Matt-Francis wrote on 6/2/2020, 8:55 AM

I'm using the trial version of the latest beta build of AP10 and it fixed the problem with the plug ins not loading but I just noticed that the Limiter I put on the Master doesn't seem to be working properly anymore. Like when I used the Dance Limiter Moderate setting it stayed below -0.1 Db. Now it creeps into the red and goes up to 0.6Db. None of the tracks are going into the red, only the Master channel. Any possible reason for this?

DubstepMMZDK wrote on 6/2/2020, 1:35 PM

@Torsten

The new sidechaining feature is awsome and works fine!

Thank you a lot for this very useful feature!

Matt-Francis wrote on 6/13/2020, 12:55 AM

Not really related to the beta per se but is it possible to add an option so that when I add a loop it doesn't automatically insert part of it at the start of the track? It's highly annoying. Every time I add something I have to go to the start and delete it.

Djronrella wrote on 6/13/2020, 3:05 AM

@Matt-Francis I drag and hold loop from browser and drop it into the exact spot I want in New track!

Thanks, I never thought of that. I think it's something Magix added that wasn't there in AP7. I kind of just shrugged it off but recently it was annoying me.
