This program would be so awesome if it actually worked. I spent many hours yesterday on a song, shut down the computer normally, and when I turned it on today the acid file is completely corrupt and wont open. Magical, no?

frank18 wrote on 11/24/2018, 12:17 AM

Try do double click the songfile in the windows explorer to open it (ending should be associated to Acid.

Worked for me several times...

To give this another try, I re-installed version 8, still sucks. Can't get past the dark GUI. Because the Acid Pro workflow is unmatched, I am back on version 7. Hoping Magix will update the Version 8 issues soon so I can get back to it. For now, I will continue with version 7 and Studio one.

How do you find the loops after you download them to your computer

latonia-hopkins wrote on 12/26/2018, 10:23 PM

cannot load loops

Hello.

I recently subscribed to Acid Pro 365 and I have a question:

will they be active after downloading the instruments, so you can "drag" them to midi files and work with them?

If so, why does not it work with me? (Photo3).

After "dragging" on the DNe1 instrument path it works and the rest does not and such a message appears (photo1,2).

If you need to additionally buy it, please ask for information on how to do it?

I was not at all keen on the dark UI at all at first but persisted through it.

It's still not perfect, but it's absolutely fine once you acclimatise...Turning the saturation and tint down helps a little.

The old grey UI looks horrible to me now. Like something that belongs in windows 95.

Nah man, I got rid of it. Couldn't do it. I spend more time bickering about it than actually getting any work done. that old acid pro feel is just not there. Nice try though. But if you can work with it, got for it. I will come back later to see if they do anything about that BLACK GUI.

I don't know what went wrong with the new version, but with Acid Pro 7, i could use EZDrummer 2 with no problem. With Acid Pro 8, i can't find a way for it to show up there at all. I've done the folder searches and everything. Is there a way to get EZDrummer working with Acid Pro 8 or an update that can be done? It's a necessity for me so I can do my work. All real help is appreciated. Thanks!

sheppo wrote on 1/3/2019, 3:04 PM

Hey @reaper - just to check. Do you have the VST plugin installed for the version of AP8 you're using. E.g. 32bit version of EZD2 for the 32bit version of Acid Pro 8, or 64bit version of EZD2 for the 64bit version of Acid Pro 8?

In the other thread you asked for help in, in November, there was a response from a user that said the plugin works okay for him. So, please try to ensure you're using the right version of the plugin with the right version of Acid Pro. Also don't try to map your 32bit and 64bit VST plugin folders in Acid Pro plugin manager, this can actually cause plugins to fail to load in some instances.

Last, can you confirm you have the latest updates for EZD2 and Acid Pro installed?

I've been using ACID for about 12 years. I tried switching to Ableton and Sonar but they never worked as well for me. I'm glad to have ACID and it does almost everything I need. There is more I would like to see it do, but it beats everything else I tried. I have won remix competitions and released some pretty cool songs and am now working on my second album. I wouldn't have done any of that without ACID.

AP08 and AP09 don´t work as slave rewire. Despite what they say on their website and in their maills, I tried it on 2 PC´s with 3 win7, win8, win 10, all 64 bit. I asked the support for help many times, but no help, just short answers. One time, they told me, that they knew about this rewire problem, then they requested a capture video and the last message was, that they had no time, to solve this problem, due to the work on AP 09. But AP 09 also does not open in rewire mode.......btw I am a professional musician and sound engineer using Samplitude Pro

this whole thing blows. i just come here to vent now. i am off of acid pro for good unless sonic foundry takes it back and does something with it

@Former user This has to be a bit of sarcasm, no? I mean, it's been 16 years since Sonic Foundry had anything to do with ACID...

Anyway, @bernhard-kowatsch I just tried AP8 (8.08) as a rewire slave in both Samplitude Pro X4 and Studio One 4, and without really knowing what I was doing, I was easily able to get ACID to open as a slave and play along correctly. Now, maybe you're trying something more complicated than that, but it seems to work OK for me here.

well if it worked for you, good for ya. and yes, i know sonic foundry is long gone. thats what i meant, i am forever off of acid as i have dropped my money on ableton. couldn't hang anymore

Sony dumped acid pro, Magix resurrected it no matter the outcome. give it time to improve. just like a fine mature wine.

weevil wrote on 5/13/2019, 3:24 AM

Yeah, Sony badly mismanaged and eventually abandoned the app, it was dead and buried.

Anything we get now from Magix is amazing.

I'd love development to be much faster, but they are clearly working within a very limited budget.

Having someone to complain to and something to complain about and seeing someone actually respond is progress for Acid Pro that we haven't seen in 10 years. Oh, and seeing a 64bit version on my Win10 x64 bit system that I can use without jumping through hoops is very welcome as well.

I've been using Acid since v1.0 (no pun intended). :D

I've tried to stop using Acid and move onto all those other great DAW programs and to be honest, they all are great in their own regards one way or another. What keeps bringing me back to using Acid and Vegas for that matter? Familiarity. It's as simple as that. I've reached a stage in my life, where I just no longer feel like working through the frustrations of learning another DAW. So while those other DAWs now do those 5 to 10 things better, it's the other 100 things that I use more often and I know exactly where to look for them is why I continue using Acid Pro. I'm sure many of us including the OP is in that same camp.

I'm also happy that Acid evolved into a full DAW. That way I didn't need to learn another program to do the other things I use a DAW for and I didn't have to be messing around syncing and rewiring multiple programs together.

There's a lot of things I don't like in the newer versions of Acid, but I just blame that on human nature. As humans we are creatures of habit and anytime someone changes something that we've grown accustomed to, it always makes us feel uncomfortable but that's just progress being made and it's up to us to adapt, try to focus on the positive and stop complaining.

I see the same kind of bitching and moaning everytime there's a new version of Windows released. "Oh my gosh! Windows 7 was so awesome, Windows 10 is so awful! Microsoft are complete idiots! They cannibalized it!" Sound familiar to the 1st post? Shut-up already, stop being lazy and move out of your comfort zone and start enjoying progress being made and jump into the fun zone.

aaah yes, until your last paragraph. Yes, you are the paradigm of wisdom. Ok.

@Rednroll

While the majority of your post above is informative and constructive criticism is fine, the last paragraph was unnecessary and may be considered as provocative - see the Community rules #1 - link is at the bottom of every forum page.

Compared to what? Samplitude Music Studio is literally a deeper DAW than ACID Pro at the moment, with like 3x the functionality for end to end song production... Samplitude Pro Suite (perpetually on sale) is almost a Logic Pro X-level package for Windows users.

Not much was added in 8 or 9. ACID stood still through a decade of DAW development and innovation. I look at it more as a utility than a DAW, like I do Sound Forge Pro.

It's still using the same old DirectX plugins. It doesn't even have a usable content browser. No Elastic Audio. The MIDI editing is beyond bad. No I interchange options (OMF, AAF). Mediocre Video Support (VFW? LOL). Practically non-existent Audio Editing. Buggy VST support. ReWire that decides randomly who it will work for.

I agree with others. AP8 is the most unstable DAW that I have ever used in my life - and shocking so. Just trying to set options after installation resulted in like 10 crashes in a row. This involves pressing Apply followed by pressing Okay. It crashes repeatedly.

I understand many are huge fans of the platform, but rose colored glasses are kind of a thing (metaphorically speaking).

The platform was practically dead for a decade of DAW development. It's a toy in the current market.

Look at how FL Studio has developed in the same timespan. That was the opportunity it cost for ACID.

Issue is less "What will MAGIX do?" and more "Why?" The alternatives are just as good now, since ACID gifted them a 10 year handicap...

@BillyMark-Welch There is an article about this in the support section and there are a lot of solved threads about your problem on this forum. Why didn't you use the search function? It is really easy.

Hope I'm missing something,

Yes you answered your own question. You missed something and seem to want to blame Magix.

@BillyMark-Welch

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

It is a pity your first post here is a rant and has been added to a thread about Acid Pro 8, when you clearly have bought Acid Pro 10 Suite. Please do not hijack another user's thread in that manner.

This thread will now be closed.
