A song about traveling as a search for oneself, which ends in a final stop in Africa, for the love of a woman. This theme offered me the opportunity to introduce ethnic passages (Indian and African music namely). Many thanks to Massanma for her text in malinké and for her voice.
Lyrics from "The restless traveler".
He was travelling, cross running ,
Cruising our world, on his own.
Looking for .... something, beyond the steep hills,
But what ? He didn't know.
A way to wisdom, A path to sanity,
Peace in the kingdom, or a breath, a snatch of purity,
A Graal for the next century, a sound place for ever to be.
(Indian interlude)
But the more he was traveling, the more he was suffering,
From all the strives he would see all around.
Not a day without pain, not a night without crime.
From the walls of Israel, to the high security cells,
From the beaches paved with hope of a better life,
He chose to settle down somewhere in Africa.
(Ivorian break)
Ndê tehlé gninan to ni doroya ni gannimba sô (x3)
Yes I was lookin' for a light,
I was looking for my life,
But I found the sun, and I found a soul,
And I found a sweet love, above all. (x2)
Ndê tehlé gninan to ni doroya ni gannimba sô .
