Une nouvelle composition sur un champion de boxe qui perd son titre par inattention... et par amour. Le tout dans un style de musique très influencé par celle de Paul Simon dans les années '80.
A new song of mine about a boxing champion who loses his title by a careless mistake... and by love. All in a musical style very influenced by that of Paul Simon during the 80ies.
Hold me tight
Joe was a champion in his art,
he hadn’t lost a single fight ;
the ring was his, from the first round
Everybody thought he was unbeatable,
that he would just retire
When time and age are nigh.
But inside this beating machine
A heart was beating for Eileen
He was her love, she was his queen,
throughout the sports season, of her,
he was daydreaming
Yes he was daydreaming....
“Hold me tight,
Be my woman tonight.
For so long, you were outta sight,
Wo-wo-wo, O come, closer to my desire.”
(Solo)
One night, she went to see his match,
Although she preferred not to watch.
That was her gift, a lonely ride,
A thousand miles to see her darling fight.
To see her darling fight...
But in the middle of round six,
Joe saw Eileen in the public,
He was so moved, he was so touched,
He hadn’t seen his rival’s winning uppercut.
Which gave his career a final butt.
“Hold me tight,
Be my woman tonight.
For so long, you were outta sight,
Wo-wo-wo, O come, closer to my desire.”
