Legends behind the prelude "drop of water":

The rooms of the monastery allowed wind and rain to penetrate inside, causing further deterioration of Chopin's health. Chopin spent much of his time listening to the repetitive phenomenon drip of rain. This runoff inspired the repetitive note throughout the prelude "Rain Drop".

Chopin composed the prelude while waiting for George Sand and his children after a shopping outing, while listening to the slow, steady rain falling on his windows.

Chopin suffered from hallucinations when he wrote the prelude. One night, while he was alone in his room during a storm, he played the piano and sounded as if his game echoed the sound of the storm. He heard someone knocking on the door, he was terribly afraid because being sick he thought, it was the death that struck at that door ....... or "the phantoms of Chopin"

The story of the prelude "Rain Drop" was created by George Sand in her novel "Story of My Life," in which she describes Chopin improvising the prelude during a storm.

Good Listening
