why won't .vob files import corectly into Movie Edit Pro 14?

I am trying to bring video from a DVD into MEP 14Plus so that I can clean up the audio. After importing the 4 .VOB files found in the folder that is on the DVD I find that the last three dont play back correctly. The audio cuts out about 1 minute in and then the video starts getting a little jerky. The DVD plays fine on a standard DVD player. How can I import this video to MEP14 for editing? Thank You!

There could be a number of things going on.

What created the DVD, was it store bought or burned from a different program?

Is the DVD in a NTSC or PAL format I am assuming NTSC if your are in the Americas, but asking just the same.

Is the video SD or HD (4:3 or 16:9 ratio)?

The only thing I can say is that there is some sort of MPEG-2 incompatibility with what was stored in the VOB and what the Movie Edit Pro 14 can read.

Thank you for your response. The DVD was created by a different program, it was a piano recital recorded by a professional for a piano teacher, I am not sure of the details though (program used, etc.)  The video is SD (it says the ratio is 4:3.)  I assume it is in NTSC format because I am in the US and had no issue playing it back on normal DVD player. If there is an incompatibility with what was stored in the .VOB and what MEP can read is there anyway to get around this? My ultimate goal is just to remove a 60 cycle hum that made it's way past the video editor, but I am getting frustrated because I can't even get the video to import into MEP to work on it.

Thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate it.

There should be a way yes, but finding what encoder was used to create the MPEG-2 format that was ultimately used to also create the DVD originally could be part of the problem.

I recommend getting a free DVD ripper off the net, one that characteristically is just going to rip the content from the DVD, I use one called Shrink, but I am not sure of its availability anymore (although I just Googled DVD Shrink and found many hits)... I use it because I get various dics sent in, some of which my DVD player will not read but the computer will, so I rip them, then re-author them to a new DVD using the Movie Edit Pro.

You could do the same thing in this regard, rip the content off, load the content in the Movie Edit Pro, process the audio, re-author.
