It does not export in 4k and if it does the option is not easy to see

Hey man I got movie edit pro premium and it said 2018 but in menu says 2016. I cannot export in 4k.... the thing says 4 k all over the place but there is no way to do it (export). It should not say 4k but than when you want to export a video it does not export in 4k.. the option should be there when it asks for hd 1 or 2..... this should not be hidden or complicated and man you guys offer zero help. I seen another person below ask with no valid reply. I am at the point of returning this product again.

Hi

. . . . you guys offer zero help . . . .

Please note this is a user to user forum not Magix Support.

. . . . I got movie edit pro premium and it said 2018 but in menu says 2016 . . . .

What is the version number as found under Help, About ?

. . . . It should not say 4k but than when you want to export a video it does not export in 4k.. the option should be there when it asks for hd 1 or 2 . . . .

The emboldened options above would suggest you are trying export as a MPG file - this file format does not support 4K video.

You need to export as MP4 - the options are there as shown below - click the check box arrowed if you do not see them - note you will not have the top 2 options or the DVDA options - these are custom presets I created.

My English is not the best but anyone who reads this will understand clearly the issues I wrote here.I did manage to finally do something with it on my own before getting these replies, but it is not normal and works horribly compared to the 2013 version that is better besides some new features this "newer" product offers. The 4k, it seems like an ad on option to the older software. I cannot use the product even now that I know how to use it better, I cannot use it well because of glitching and constant loading that never existed before in the 2013 version. The version of 2013 puts this one in the dust and I had to use it instead of this one and lower the resolution of the videos back to regular HD and the 4k out the window. I put a regular movie and it worked better, but the same HD I use in the 2013 version simply does not play back properly without constant glitching in every way and it is happening in new ways every time I use the software. It was so bad once that I was actually having trouble thinking afterwards and had to turn off my computer, it actually hurts my head!. Everything requires loading, I cannot move the video back and fourth without an automatic load and it all simply cannot properly play back the movie like I did before with the 2013 version. Paste and copy was made horrible and now I cannot type easily in different languages and have to change my keyboard settings to simply get different letters different types because I cannot pase and copy them easily anymore. I made a video with 2013 software at the cost of 4k not being used, and it took me 1 hour on a 10 minute video, the same video with the "2018" or 2016 as it says in the menu.....and with such horror took me 3 hours before I had to give it up. I put it black and white and it did not change it, I put in different audios and most got dumped or distorted. I put different speeds and it kept glitching to the point where I had to give up. Video after video, after video, until the software is being replaced by the software I was replacing with this one! It is not my antivirus, or the files from my camera, or it not downloaded right... it is simply this software, and it also might require some super computer that none of my friends have... like what is wrong with this???. I am not making this up and I think you guys know that my complaints are real and that this software has 100% gone backwards besides some new features and this illusion of functional 4k editing! Do you people not test your own software, or hear people's feedback? Do we just lose our money, time and or return the products??? I have a computer from 2017 and it has new software, updates, cards and I cannot believe what is unfolding here with this software I bought to replace what I thought was a good software that is outdated because of 4k.... I am reading reviews from other people to only see horror stories and a regret of me buying it. I cannot replace my old software and this new one is a downgrade. ...It makes me feel so stupid as I am now stuck in this back and fourth question asking... i cannot believe this... is this for real? This is a buyers worst nightmare and waste of time, resources etc.Another horror thought I have is that the software said that is was going to replace my 2013 version with his one????? NO! PLEASE! NO!!!!!!! NOO!!!!! If I download my old software to a different computer, I do not want it to say it does not work because this new stupid thing.... that would be fraud... because I bought that software and you cannot just replace it with a faulty version! That is like taking my old car away by default when I bought it! I am having a really bad experience with this and it has thrown off my whole experience with video editing. I got a feeling there is no fix but returning this garbage I bought, and from there waiting for a refund! or complications with that!??? Man what a horror scene.

English may not be your first language, but hopefully you can read this : THIS IS NOT MAGIX SUPPORT IT IS A FORUM OF USERS LIKE YOURSELF!

Please be respectful of other users or you will just be ignored. It would also be useful if you could give some information on your system as it is impossible to help you if we don't know what you are editing on, or what format of video footage you are trying to edit.

I have been using Magix video editing software for many years as part of my professional video business and currently film everything in 4k, usually editing up to four 4k streams in one project on VPX16. I do not experience any of the problems that you appear to be having and haven't done on any of the earlier versions either.

Perhaps if you give us the information asked for and go through some of the procedures that you use, we might be able to see where you are going wrong, to offer some help.

@Fern-Marn

Hi

As @RogerGunkel has said this is a user to user forum - please respect other users who are trying to help you and supply any information requested.

When posting please keep the topic to the facts - opinions etc are not necessary and make reading what the issue(s) is/are more difficult.

I have read through your long post and after removing a lot of unnecessary statements and opinions reduced it to the following issues which you are now describing:

  1. . . . glitching and constant loading. . . . the same HD I use in the 2013 version simply does not play back properly without constant glitching in every way  . . . .  Everything requires loading, I cannot move the video back and fourth without an automatic load and it all simply cannot properly play back the movie like I did before with the 2013 version . . . .

Have you checked that you are using the same Hardware acceleration settings as in 2013 in the program settings and the Preview monitor options available under the button with the lightning symbol and that it is turned on, ie it is coloured blue?

  2.  . . . . Paste and copy was made horrible  . . . .

There is no difference between the versions on how to paste and copy:
    - keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V
    - from the menu Edit, Copy objects, Paste objects
    - Ctrl + Drag the object with the mouse

Copying from another program eg text from a document to a title in MEP also has not changed

  3.  . . . .  this illusion of functional 4k editing! . . . .

4K editing is fully functional in MEP 2016/18 and later - I and several other users are working with 4K all the time.

Without knowing your computer specification - see this topic for what is required we can only generalise.

4K video (3840 x 2160) contains 4x more pixels than Full HD (1920x1080) and 10x more pixels than HD (1280x720).

This means the processor and/or GPU have a much higher load and if you are not using proxy files, and the settings mentioned in item 1 above are not turned on, then you may not get smooth preview playback ie it will be glitchy.

Additionally as you add effects and more complex transitions, titles, collages etc, this puts even more load onto the processor and GPU, which may not be able to keep up with the real time processing required to generate the preview.

With my computer - specification is in my signature below - I can work with and achieve smooth preview playback without the need for proxy files when not using effects or transitions that do slow down the preview and make it 'glitchy'.

This reply is long due to there being 3 different 'issues' the last of which requires some detail.

On another comment I left this "I just bought this movie edit pro premium that says its for 2018 but I do not know what it is really from. I am reading back and fourth here on all the issues I have that others have and see no help. I just see confusing back and fourth answers. Here is my answer in a nutshell. I went to drag 4 video files onto my movie edit pro 2013 and it loaded instantly... I did it from a card and it took about ten minutes because it is an older card. I went to go do the same with the already loaded files on the new software and it took 2 hours. The playback on the new software is so chopy, and black and white setting did not work. This new software just looks like the older version upgraded with 4k complicated options and some new useless perks. The 2013 works much better, has all the features more easily accesible without commercials every time you load. None of these answers make sense and the tech guy is just having a field day while we all suffer and scratch our heads.I know it makes sense to you JB, but dang, why is it so user unfriendly and clearly a downgrade in many senses?"

Ok. Paste and copy is not simple anymore, it requires that extra stuff now and it takes seconds off and sometimes you may not get it properly and have to do it again and that could take more seconds to even minutes if program is shut off after.

No, when I move the section of the video as it is playing, it automatically loads, and causing a pause losing a few seconds at times and in total much time like minutes to longer once done, you cannot do it smoothly and it becomes a hit and miss with an automatic stall causing so much time loss and headaches. I mean real headaches as the screen and complication with added stress causes pain in the eyes, its not normal and you think about how this issue is new. It does not just smoothly play like the older software did. This is a flaw and it has nothing to do with my computer, and if it does? come on.. everyone is saying the same thing...

As for the 4k I am seeing it much more and a total market push to upgrade computers while of course the evolution of the whole process, but these problems still continue into reducing the video. The lighting symbol did not do anything. At the end I downgraded the video quality and the old software still runs quicker and with no stress. The new software adds so much time, and run around and glitches out. The saturation does not even go black and white, it did at first but than never did again! This is not just my computer. The software, I do not know why it is doing that. The window looks exactly the same besides commercials and some perks, but everything is so delayed, so distorted and made to take so long now. It has gotten worse. The features you honestly described and things I had to do I agree are an evolution I got to get use to, but the rest of what I am saying I have confirmed it with everyone else.

I also do not understand this whole thing about cards, and playback etc... All I see is problems and most not being able to understand it along with a software being made harder to use in many ways than just needing to upgrade our knowledge. It is simply to see just draging an already loaded file to my computer to the new softawre to see it saying "importing file" than when I cannot wait 2 hours... it says " do you really want to cancel that export"??????? wtf"??!!!!!!! come on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wtf!@!!!!!!!!! okay now hear me out... I load it to the old software and no issue... just bam! ready to go! that is not my card or my playback... that is the new software made only understandable by you and all of us idiots because we have to return over and over and over until we just do not read the emails and give up.. no! ... I also stated I was very angry to see that this new software wanted to replace my old one when I put in the serial number and it detected my old software... I do not want to be stuck with this for now on when I bought both the software separately... You dismissed it as some sort of noise? I also keep trying to contact this "magical" magixs place and cannot reply very well to the emails as it says "you must do something in some ticket order" just so complicated and wasted money, time, sleep and who knows what to come... now it is saying it is going to replace my old software for this one? I need real help and for my software to either be fixed or to be sent with one that works.

Fern-Marn escrito el 01.11.PM a las 13:55 horas

To add. I closed and opened again, waited the two hours for the files to load. I put on the saturation to make it black in white and see nothing. I did it with contrast and got nothing. made the video and waited many hours to see that the settings went through but I could not monitor the results. That took me about 8 hours to edit, load and all the bs.. I went after and did it on the 2013 version and everything worked and it took me about two hours in total since the video was more than 5 minutes and good HD. 4k on the new software? I am dreaming! This does not make sense. It is not my computer or anyone else, it is this software. So what... I need a new computer? even to do older videos I could do on my older software? This is so stupid that I feel stupid just talking, like what did I just buy and for what? Why is new worse?

@Fern-Marn

Hi

While we appreciate how frustrating issues can be, help us to help you by keeping your posts concise and give facts and details, opinions only make it more difficult for other users to determine what the issues are, and may put them off trying to help you.

Information still missing or requires clarification is:

  1. video file format and resolutions?

  2. are you working directly from the cameras memory card or copying the files to the computer first?

  3. have you done all the checks posted in my previous comment item 1?

  4. Do you have Create proxy files turned on in the projects settings in MEP 2013 and 2018?

  5. do you mean HD ie 1280x720 or Full HD 1920x1080 - the correct name is essential as there are big difference in terms of the computers capabilities, as I have mention above in item 3.

  6. your computer specification

As I said before working with 4K is perfectly feasible - however you computer must be capable of handling the extra loads imposed upon it compared to HD and Full HD.

Regarding your comment on the other topic - I have closed the topic - please do not duplicate posts, this will split responses and cause further issues in not knowing what has and has not been tried.

In essence a 32 bit program with limited editing by comparison to the latest version of MEP. Designed to run on an already unsupported Windows operating system which then worked on a further two Microsoft operating systems that early next year will no longer be supported by Microsoft.

As MEP 2013 was primarily for 32 bit and it's internal structure probably won't cope with Win 10, you may very soon have a real problem if you want your machine to be connected to the web.

The option then is either to keep running MEP 2013 on your current machine with whatever version of Windows you are running or face the possibility of having to upgrade your machine to meet the current minimum specifications to run MEP 2018 which are now far higher than when Windows 98 came out.

MEP has changed how it uses hardware and older hardware is either no longer supported or used in the same way within the program. While it is backwards compatible as far as file handling and file types are concerned it also has to handle newer file types and specifications of new camcorders and files of possibly up to 8K in the near future to keep competitive in the current market. The hardware has also changed and speeds increased and the software has to encompass this. All software developers have to do this to survive.

No-one is forced to go down this route. It's a choice, all be it sometimes a forced one by the ever increasing demands of new technology and it's never ceasing need to update components to keep up with ever demanding changes of newer equipment or software.

So by not giving us your PC specifications and not co-operating with the requests we can only come to the conclusion that your hardware is not up to the job and nothing we recommend will help with your problems and the best advice we could give you is to stick with the 2013 version running an older version of Windows and keep it offline.

As a daily user of Magix editing software in various versions for many years, I have no problems that I can recognise from your rambling posts. I get very frustrated seeing new members of this forum ranting about problems that they are having but refusing to give any actual details of computer spec and file types to enable us to give any advice as fellow users. I also get annoyed at the same people using vague phrases like 'there is a flaw and everyone is saying the same thing'. Where are they saying it and who are these nameless people?

I don't actually understand how you are attempting to use the Magix software as you seem unwilling or unable to provide us with any workflow that you use, or any screen grabs that might help us understand. Why am I even bothering to read posts from someone who only seems to want to rant rather than answering our questions to arrive at helpful conclusions?
