I liked the slow disolution of the initial tension but was a bit surprised when after a pause it seemed to repeat. I am puzzled - what effect did you intend?

@NeilT: When you listen carefully and turn up your speakers a little bit, you will notice that there actually isn't a 'real' pause, the violin just holds the tone and becomes louder and louder - just like in the beginning. This way this section of the song is some sort of reprise - you take your initial theme and repeat and possibly advance it.
When I composed the piece, this seemed to me the best possible way to lead to the beginning again. Listening carefully you may also recognize that the piano echos at the end what the cellos and the violas played with pizzicato in the background right after the beginning (0:41 - 1:10), trying to gather some of the main but possibly also almost 'invisible' melodies.
