Cookie Cutter Effect - Picture-in-Picture

browj2 wrote on 11/14/2024, 1:21 PM

This tutorial shows how to use the Cookie Cutter Effect in Magix Movie Studio and Video Pro X to punch simple geometric shapes and create a picture-in-picture or inset image or inset video. The inset image or video can have a coloured border, or not. With no border plus feathering, the result is a blended composite. Most of the parameters can be key-framed.

Video Pro X16 was used but everything is the same in all versions of Magix Movie Studio up to 2025, with the exception of the Size/Position effect in older versions that was changed in 2022 and in Video Pro X 13.

  • 1:00 Cookie Cutter interface
  • 4:42 Moving the inset image
  • 5:33 Repeating X and Y - makes multiple masks
  • 6:53 Keyframing
  • 7:39 Change Method Order
  • 9:58 Bonus - Multiple inset images
