* This is my first video contribution to the Magix community, hope it brings adventure to your daily lives ;) From a song I created a few years back.*

There are times in our lives that can never be forgotten and certainly inspire our music expression. Many years ago, in the late 80s I had the opportunity to experience a memorable little voyage that is the theme of this piece. Along the coast of the state of Washington in a tall vintage ship christened the Sylvia. The owner of this ship who impressed me much was someone who loved to educate and share the experience of being a part of such a journey, and even being given a chance of taking the helm at times. Being so long ago I am not sure what has become of the Sylvia. But I did manage to find a newspaper clipping (in the Seattle Times) of this fine skipper's expression of what this ship was to him and all of us who experience being aboard her ...

“She was beautiful, built in Sweden as a sailing fishing vessel. Very comfortable in the water. Standing there at the helm, sailing along particularly at night, I’d get that feeling that 95 years earlier someone was standing right here doing what I’m doing. How beautiful is that?”

And now to my welcome listeners ... the "Voyage of the Sylvia"

This statue in the middle of the river is similar to the statue that my Portuguese grandfather Antonio Pereira da Costa made in honor of Saint Joseph of Macapa, which is located on the banks of the Amazon River.

Thank you Paulo for the observation. Yes my sailing adventure took me near a statue off the coast of the state of Washington. Your story of your grandfather's statue in honor of Saint Joseph of Macapa (possibly near the Fortress of Saint Joseph of Macapa to protect the Amazon from other nations) is very interesting and thank you for the connection to a statue in the sea along the coast of Washington. I am not familiar with who that statue represents but I am sure it is in common with many other statures of saints, knights, or warriors to protect a certain territory.

Mark ;)
