This Is the Legend

All original (except for the "Song of Time" melody). All lyrics and vocals by me.

Obviously I'm a big Zelda fan. The idea of this song came from the Zelda series (not only Ocarina of Time, but also the references to the "Hero of Time" in many other Zelda games). The story of that legendary hero is told in these lyrics:

In the forest he wakes
No idea what's at stake
But the fate of the kingdom
would soon be on his shoulders
In his room, there's a fairy
an urgent message she carries
and so he goes to see
The Great Deku Tree
Now the tree has been cursed
and it's withering away
All because of the greed of a wicked man
who seeks to rule the world some day
The hero breaks the curse
but his efforts are too late
With the emerald of the dead tree
his destiny awaits

This is the legend of the Hero of Time...

The next objective in his quest
isn't too much of a hassle
All he has to do to meet the Princess
is sneak into the Castle
Princess Zelda tells him all about
her visions and her dreams
and about the man named Ganondorf
who has an evil scheme
He wants to find the Sacred Realm
to obtain the golden power
then turn everything to darkness
in Hyrule's darkest hour
Stop him, young hero
Prevent this destruction
Retrieve two more stones
From the Gorons and Zoras!

This is the legend of the Hero of Time...

He does just that and brings them back
but this meeting won't be the same as before
She telepathically teaches him a melody
He plays the melody to open the door

Then there's the Master Sword right before his eyes
He pulls it out of the stone
But then sees Ganondorf who followed him there
He claims the Triforce as his own

Spell of darkness cast upon the land
hero wakes up seven years later
with a new challenge, now greater
to its needs he has to cater, so
Off to the temples he goes
defeating hundreds of foes
to look for the sages
those friends he already knows
One by one, destroyed are the giants,
an act of defiance against the dark lord
Then the sages grant Link their medallions,
rewards for his valiance against endless hordes

This is the legend of the Hero of Time...

Building to a culmination
to the fight for liberation
of all creatures far and wide,
and Ganondorf will be denied
his reign, he will be sealed away
with light returning to the days
and now that Zelda is revealed
2/3 of the Triforce those two wield
The light arrows will be the key
but not alone, for victory
take up the sacred Master Sword,
deliver the final blow!
And so, the evil one is sealed
and all his evil deeds repealed
A triumph in the name of good
then Link returns to childhood

This is the legend of the Hero of Time...

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this departure from my usual style. If you like it, please share it with any Zelda fans you know. About the picture, I found it on google (it's from the intro to "Wind Waker"). It seemed appropriate, because it speaks of that legend which always lives on.

Thanks for listening and sharing honest opinions! God bless.

Hey Travis.

Great Song, great voice, great lyrics.

My favorite 3D-Zelda is the japan-version of "Ocarina of Time"

it´s called "Master Quest", maybe you know it.

Favorite 2D-Version is "A Link to thePast".

At the moment I´m playing "Skyword Sword" (I´m at the Sand Galeon").

Greetings from the worlds biggest ZELDA-FAN,

John.

I know nothing about music. Only listened .. Using technology also makes possible for me to be able to make music.

I am also into photography amateur.

I'm not here for stars score but coment with advice for improvement of my music.

at my coment on music of others, I remain honest. this must be mutual .

I give my voice just as public and not as someone who knows something from music.

I'm open to all criticism. I want to learn something

as a great fan of the "Zelda series" I expected something different of course... so this is even more surprising...

a great idea for a dedication track to our "Hero of Time"... with him we can still travel back in time remembering playing as Link saving the princess...

this is what I call a speedrun !!! "Ocarina of Time" in just 3 minutes...

there are some moments  in your track when I could argue about where to put stress on the words... to make it less "sticking to the beat"... and sometimes it's hard to understand... your refrain I like very much... the "Song of Time" you could have adapted to your beat... played with a different instrument (pads i.e.) as a break of this track...

not all vocals are by you... I can hear "Navi" at 0:21...

GREAT WORK !!!

Sandro Glavina is an italian composer, named L'Uomo e L'Ombra. The choice of the name derives from the title of the album "L'uomo e l'ombra" of the band "Abstract Music Nuova Esistenza", an experimental group founded by Sandro Glavina together with his friends in the mid-70s.

In the period 2009-2022, L'Uomo e L'Ombra has done 84 albums. The compositions of Sandro Glavina are partly influenced by progressive rock. Sandro has developed a personal style with many experimentations and actualizations. He offers music beyond borders by intertwining different styles in crossover with each other. Prog, psychedelia, classical, post-rock, jazz, pop are some of the influences that dissolve in ambient atmospheres, citations of contemporary music and minimalist nuances. Sandro Glavina aka L'Uomo e L'Ombra plays the music using VSTI synthesizers, keyboards and adds some loops. Sandro isn't a professional musician, composes and plays music just for fun, but his works reach a good outcome, pleasant to listen. L'UOMO E L'OMBRA

Hi Travis.

I´m totally agree with sandro.

This is not exactly the style of music I usually to listen. And I´m afraid I'm not quite eclectic. However I can appreciate you have done a good work with the composition and the final mastering.
As Thomas I didn´t know this game or the Arjen Lucassen musician, but I have to say that I couldn´t change the original seventy sound by anything. I find too much overdrive in the guitars, I never listened to metal, I´m too old.  But it's nice to see that an issue of Hawkwind has been covered by a metal band.

Means the flame still burning!

Best for you and yours my friend and thanks by the link.
