Hi Good Folks:

This arrangement is a mixture of Jazz (of course) and Funk elements.  Two types of brass can be heard (flugelhorn and trumpet).  The sound of the flugelhorn has been described as halfway between a trumpet and a French horn.  The tone is "fatter" and usually regarded as more "mellow" and "darker" than the trumpet or cornet.  In any event, I've always loved its rich tone.  The flugelhorn appears mainly in Jazz, brass band music, and popular music.  The piece also includes, some (very minimal) percussion, bass, piano, guitar, a taste of organ (for seasoning), and of course, a large offering of drums.

I kept the tempo at 100 BPM and the main key is in E-Major with a few D-Flats thrown in for good measure.

Hope you find it, well...  appetizing?  Turn up the volume so you get get the FULL meal!

Thanks for listening...

Griff

Hi griff

The beginning is absolutely amazing .... with the funky guitar, the organ and the cool bass ..... but I think the finish should make it better.
Very beautiful sounds, great guitars and percussion fit perfectly.

I would like to hear more from some of these harmonies.

Wonderful fusion of funk and jazz, I like it very much.

En liebe gruess vom

Sandro

Good track (really funky jazz) and good sounds.

I like the funky guitars, expecially the one with "wah wah" effect.

The organ is very cool!

All the best!

Hey Griff,

I wrote a big ol' long comment on here last night and it disappeared before I hit SEND, so I got mad and went to bed, slept for 3 hours and here I am again.

I remember writing FUNKY to the BONE!  You are a master of Jazz and Funk and all that lies between.  My question is......why aren't you out there with your name on CD's selling like hotcakes at Best Buy and on iTunes?

I'm going back to bed for awhile!

Hey Mr.Jazz man

Groovy funky jazz this one, the deep bass and the horns is awsome, and the guitar sounds like George Benson, and the keybord is just great.  Pro work  !!

Cheers my friend

Music has always been part of my life. I started making music as a hobby for a couple of years ago. I work in an aluminum production plant, hard work but I'm not complaining.

Cheers Music friends :-)

Hi Folks:

By 'trade', I'm merely just an "old school" Jazz piano player; still trying to grasp the nuances of this digital/audio/computer medium.  As time progresses and I master this electronic medium, what you'll finally get is a more of my creative offerings.  Hopefully, I'm getting better using VSTs...

Wow!

A very funky! beginning of the sound!

I like the Bensons guitar very much, honey.

The further sound and the percussions are so cool, I cant say in any english words.

May be in German?

But the translater is fucking damned.

I only can say, your music is one of the best experiences, I`ve heard on this portal and over this by.

Thank you so much for this f `` good music.

Very Nice arrangement Griff. I am glad I played it twice like always.  The opening notes on the first play nearly decapitated my head.   But that seems to be a media player buffering issue which I am looking into and not your piece. Second play was alot nicer, however I would recommend perhaps a more gentler opening  with perhaps a full bar before kicking it high. Perhaps just a limitation of using loops.

Get them in the mood before rocking it down.

ArtistW wrote on 11/16/2013, 5:07 PM

Mix goes well together. I feel as if I am in a smooky club with a professional band and the crowd is having a good time and that's good.

Former user wrote on 11/17/2013, 11:48 AM

Hi Folks:

Just to be clear, all sounds/instruments (with the exception of Drum Labs) heard on this piece was created using the Yamaha DGX640 Portable Digital Grand Piano keyboard and a heavy dose of VSTs.  No loops whatever.

Thanks for listening.
